Their First Laba Diena: Erasmus Students Are Back To Learn Lithuanian

22 August 2012

It is the eighth time LCC International University organizes courses of Lithuanian language and culture for foreign students who come to Lithuania to participate in the Erasmus student exchange program.

This August LCC once again became first Lithuanian home to 27 students from Austria, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Turkey, Great Britain, Latvia, Estonia and Slovakia. All of them came to Klaipėda for a three-week intensive language program that helps them to adapt to Lithuanian culture before they scatter all across Lithuania to start their academic year at different universities. Traditionally, students show what they have learnt as well as present their own countries during the closing event named “Sveiki gyvi, sveteliai” (“Welcome to Lithuania”).

“This course is specifically designed for students who have no knowledge of Lithuanian, helping them to get acquainted with a new culture. The goal of this course is to equip students to function and to live in Lithuania during the period of their Erasmus program, helping them to deal with linguistic and cultural challenges", says Lina Zenkienė, Erasmus program coordinator at LCC.
