Inauguration Events Will Range From The Fun Run To The Launch of Lecture Series

The week of inaugural events dedicated to the inauguration of Dr. Marlene Wall as the President of LCC International University will culminate with the ceremony itself, but LCC and Klaipėda’s communities will have an opportunity to participate in a number of other events organized for this occasion.
The inaugural week will start off of with the Inaugural Chapel on Wednesday, September 19th, at Neufeld Auditorium. Festivities will continue with the five kilometers Fun Run/Walk followed by the LCC Community Inaugural Celebration on Friday, September 21st. Participants in the Fun Run will follow the designated route – to the Baltic Sea and back – which will take them about an hour. The LCC Community Inaugural Celebration will feature games, competitions and BBQ that will all take place on the lawn by the Michealsen Centras.
On Saturday, September 22nd, religious leaders and authorities from the region will gather for the Prayer Breakfast that will be followed by the launch of The True North Lecture Series. This series of events will feature the world’s top professionals visiting the LCC campus and giving their speeches. The series, which will continue throughout the new academic year will start with a panel discussion on one of LCC’s genuine identity elements – Liberal Arts. An event titled The Value of Liberal Arts Education in 21st Century will take place in Neufeld Auditorium.
The ceremony of the Inauguration will start at 3 p.m. in Michealsen Centras and will feature honorary guests with all extended LCC community members present. Speakers will include Klaipėda City Mayor Vytautas Grubliauskas, founder of LCC International University and member of the Board of Directors Art DeFehr, Chair of LCC’s Board of Directors Allon Lefever, Bishop of Lithuanian Evangelical Lutheran Church Mindaugas Sabutis, and others.

Dr. Marlene Wall has been working in the role of President since April of 2012. She has served the university in a wide variety of capacities in the 20 years since her participation in LCC’s first Summer Language Institute in 1991. Before coming to LCC in 2002 as Academic Vice President, she served on the Board of Directors. Under her leadership, the academic division has successfully established faculty governance structures, accredited existing and new programs, revised the general education curriculum, and articulated foundational learning outcomes that grow out of LCC’s distinctive Christian liberal arts educational model.
