Saltshaker Conference: Know It, Live It, Share It!
06 January 2010
At a new time of the year, December 30-January 1, this year's Saltshaker youth conference was the highlight of winter holidays for about 200 young people from across Lithuania. In addition to inspiring and challenging speakers and group worship sessions led by local singers and Latvian band "Man-Hu", participants celebrated the beginning of the year 2010 together.
Held at LCC International University, the conference brought together youth from churches from Biržai to Šilute to Marijampolė to small villages, not to mention groups from the larger cities of Lithuania. Many first-timers have promised to come back again! More than 40 volunteers, many whom are yearly participants, also come from across Lithuania.
On December 31, participants went in groups to fourteen service projects across Klaipėda for an opportunity to live the life of love that Jesus inspires. "We see time and time again that participation in service projects opens the minds and hearts of youth so they will consider actively bringing life and hope into their communities," said organizer Sharon Brubaker, Church Relations coordinator at LCC.
Saltshaker youth conference is also unique for its ability to bring people together from a large variety of church traditions. This years' participants came from Reformed, Catholic, Russian Orthodox, Free Christian, Baptist, Pentecostal and other Christian churches. LCC is an attractive place for Christians of various traditions to meet together.
