Five LCC female students presented their fundraising project “Lean In.” Inspired by Sheryl Sandberg’s “Lean In” movement, they are working towards creating a platform that financially aids female leaders in the region. Their goal is working towards a sustainable scholarship fund which would cover the tuition of a female leader in need who wants to pursue her education at LCC. One of the project’s initiators, Vita Klimaitė, commented on the fundraising, “All of us read Sheryl Sandberg’s “Lean In”, and although each of us appreciated different aspects of it based on our personal experiences, we started this group because we definitely agreed that encouraging women to live up to their full potential is essential. Our discussions manifested into a wish to do something substantial, and so we decided that nothing speaks louder than an ability to give access to free education to a young woman who strives for knowledge and envisions herself as a future leader. The endowment fund is 25 000eu, and we are attempting to reach this goal by the end of the next academic year. It would allow for the creation of a scholarship that would last as long as LCC does.So far the fundraisers have been a success and we are truly thankful! On top of the creation of the scholarship, we founded LCC’s own Lean In Circle, which is dedicated to discussing Sandberg’s book as well as external and internal obstacles a female might face on her way to becoming a leader“
