Bio
Before joining LCC, Phil taught in Nigeria, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and most recently online to underserved students in Myanmar. He is an energetic proponent of the liberal arts and multicultural / international education. For seven years Phil was Vice Dean of Academic Affairs at Nazarbayev University where he oversaw all academics in the School of Sciences and Humanities as well as the university's core curriculum. Phil received his Ph.D. in Philosophical Theology from the University of Toronto. His specialty is in Epistemology, Religion and Democracy, and Philosophy of Language with research focused on epistemological issues surrounding the role of beliefs and reasons in public life. He has also published in the area of medieval Islamic philosophy, focusing on the works of al Farabi, Ibn Sina, and al Ghazali.
